Considering a Mommy Makeover? Here’s What to Expect

Carrying a child puts a lot of stress on the body; afterwards, many women have extra abdominal fat, drooping breasts, and fat deposits all over the body. It’s hard to feel good about yourself when your body just isn’t the same as it was pre-children.

A mommy makeover is an excellent choice for regaining your body when diet and exercise alone are not enough. Dr. Anthony N. Dardano provides body contouring and breast surgery to help you feel proud of your body, even after having children.

Procedures in a mommy makeover

A mommy makeover is a term we use to describe several procedures that help you regain your confidence after having kids. Moms often have areas of loose skin, excess fat, and uneven or sagging breasts after breastfeeding.

We offer a range of procedures to meet your goals and needs. A few of the procedures we include in our mommy makeovers include the following:

Breast surgery

After kids, breasts may be saggy, deflated, or uneven. If you’re not happy with how your breasts look, we offer breast augmentations, lifts, and reductions if you still have a lot of breast tissue.

Abdominal surgery

Abdominal fat accumulation is common after having kids. Exercise and diet aren’t always enough, which is why we offer abdominal surgery to improve your appearance.

We provide a tummy tuck or a circumferential abdominoplasty to restore the shape and flatness of your abdomen.

Liposuction

Fat is difficult to eliminate when you’re constantly chasing kids around – which is where liposuction comes into play. Liposuction is a procedure we use to remove stubborn fat from areas like the abdomen, thighs, and buttocks.

Labiaplasty

A labiaplasty is an option to address changes to the vaginal region, especially after childbirth.

Non-surgical options

We also offer non-surgical options, alone or in combination with surgery. Consider injectables or skin tightening to enhance your look.

Good candidates for a mommy makeover

Not everyone is a good candidate for a mommy makeover. Women should be finished having kids before considering surgery. If you have a mommy makeover and have more children, your body may revert.

It’s best to be at a stable weight and in good health before surgery. Healthier patients recover faster and see results sooner.

Before undergoing a mommy makeover, it’s crucial to set realistic expectations and define what you would like to see. It’s not a miracle cure and won’t create a perfect body, but it will enhance your natural features and remove problems like stubborn fat and excess skin.

How long is the recovery?

Recovery time varies by procedure. Most women need at least six weeks to heal after liposuction, tummy tuck, or breast surgery.

You need a few weeks off from work and someone to help out with your kids during the first few weeks of recovery. With each week, you should notice the swelling, pain, and bruising getting better.

It typically takes six months to a year to see the full results and for recovery to be complete. You must have help for the first four to six weeks, as you won’t be able to lift more than 10 pounds during the recovery period.
